I have two beautiful boys, 9 and 11. My oldest has Autism/Intellectual Disability and is low to moderate functioning. He is a joy and my kids are my life. But with my son’s disability and with him getting older, I was having a hard time keeping up with him. So, as my 40th Birthday drew near, I knew I had to do something for my boys—and myself. After all, running up the stairs made me winded and breathless. I knew I needed to change my life.
I started my journey to a new healthy lifestyle by counting calories, eating healthy, walking daily and doing Chris Freytag’s DVD Walking Cardio Shape Up. I fell in love with Walking Cardio Shape Up because I got all the cardio benefits from power walking but with each circuit I got to work abs, arms, thighs and shoulders. Because of the power walking in between circuits it seemed like an easy workout, but after I felt like I went through boot camp. The results were almost instant. My shoulders and arms looked awesome, I was shedding pounds, my legs looked amazing, and my big belly was nonexistent.
In a matter of three months, I lost 30 pounds. I was walking up to five miles every other day and continued to work out with the Walking Cardio Shape Up. Next, I graduated to running and found your 10 Pound Slimdown Xtreme Workouts!
The 10 Pound Slimdown Xtreme workouts are challenging and fun. (The kickboxing workout was the one that got me hooked.)
The repetition and circuits are awesome, easy to follow, and work every muscle in your body. I love the fact that I can do kickboxing, abs, arms, yoga, buns—something new every single day of the week. I love the atmosphere, your instructions, the energy and the music.
My favorite part are the drills and the resting period right afterward. It really feels good to be able to finish with a quick cardio exercise with drills and then active recovery. The resting period afterward is just enough to keep going on to the next circuit. I just LOVE IT!!
It's been seven months now and I’ve lost 60 lbs. and I am still doing the 10 Pound Slimdown Xtreme. I also ran my first official 5K this past Saturday and I placed 180 out of 300 with a time of 34.48; I beat my trainer's personal best time. Now, my next goal is to run my first official 5 mile race which will happen two days before my 40th birthday. I also started training for a half marathon. Doable goals and baby steps along with Chris’s workouts gave me the confidence to stay the long haul.
It is amazing to now see myself so fit and lean. Feeling fit and energized after 10 years of being overweight is amazing to me. Chris, I look forward to doing your workouts every morning, because they are such a great start to my day. Thank you!
